Frymax Celebrates It's Golden Anniversary

Frymax, one of the great brands of the fish and chip trade, is celebrating fifty years of success with the news that Finnegans, the winner of The Fish & Chip Shop of The Year Award, use Frymax for all their frying.

For fifty years since the decontrol of oils and fats in 1953 Frymax has remained the leading all vegetable frying fat in the market. The trade has changed greatly over these years and now has to compete with a wide range of options all fighting for the fast food pound. The style and image has changed from 'fish, chips and peas' to a wide menu sold in modern clean shops in which hygiene plays a key role. As a result fish and chips remains the nations' most popular takeaway with over 20% of out of home food consumption coming through our trade. There has also been a move towards healthier food and this has been reflected in the growth of vegetable fats such as Frymax.

Despite these changes in the industry the key to Frymax's success lies in its consistency. The Frymax formulation has remained unaltered and it is the delivering of good, clean tasting food everytime that is the hallmark of Frymax. Process and production techniques have naturally changed over the fifty years but all changes have been thoroughly checked to maintain the Frymax quality.

It is refined before being tested again prior to being batched, processed and packed under specific conditions specially formulated for Frymax. Every aspect involved in the production of Frymax is tested regularly to make certain that the standards set 50 years ago are maintained.

Testimony to the quality of Frymax is that three of the ten regional winners of the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year, including the winner, are users of Frymax.

The trade will continue to change in the future and the pace of change will become greater. The options available in the fast food market will continue to have an impact and pressure can be expected to grow from various health bodies and groups. Fish and chips offers a natural, nutritious meal and has significant advantages over many alternative fast food options. Image will become even more important and Frymax will continue to provide assistance in raising the quality and image of the trade. In addition to providing frying guides and a Fish n Chip Fryer Do's & Don't's Wallchart, Frymax has supported the training courses of the National Federation Of Fish Friers and this year has become involved with the Seafish Industry Authority Friers Quality Award scheme. As part of its fifty year celebration Frymax is producing a window sticker showing a delicious serving of fish and chips and emphasising that they are fried in all vegetable fat.

By maintaining the quality and consistency of its product and by helping the trade to raise its quality standards and image, Frymax looks forward to the next 50 years with confidence.
